01The agreement
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Citetail's website, dashboard, API, and free tools (together, the "Service"), operated by Citetail, Inc. ("Citetail," "we," "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you're using Citetail on behalf of a company, you're confirming you have authority to bind that company.
You get a platform that audits your domain and tracks AI citations. We get paid for it, expect you to use it fairly, and can't promise any specific engine will cite you.
02Accounts & eligibility
- You must be at least 18 and able to form a binding contract to create an account.
- You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
- Provide accurate account and billing information, and keep it up to date.
- Team accounts: the account owner is responsible for managing seats and for the actions of teammates they invite.
- Notify us right away at security@citetail.com if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
03Plans, billing & trials
Citetail offers Starter, Growth, Pro, and Business plans, billed monthly unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Prices may change with at least 30 days' notice for existing subscribers. Business plan pricing is set separately by contract.
04Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service to audit or track domains you don't own or aren't authorized to analyze on a client's behalf.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or resell Citetail's scoring methodology or underlying data without written permission.
- Use automated means to exceed reasonable API rate limits or circumvent plan-based usage caps.
- Upload content or configure tracked queries that are unlawful, infringing, or intended to manipulate AI engines through deceptive means (e.g., cloaking, fake citations, or coordinated inauthentic content).
- Interfere with the Service's infrastructure or attempt to access another customer's account or data.
- Misrepresent your identity or affiliation when contacting support or engaging with the Reddit Finder or citation tools.
We may suspend accounts that violate these terms, with notice where practical.
05Data sources & accuracy
Citetail's GEO scores, citation checks, and Reddit mentions are generated by querying third-party AI engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Copilot) and public sources on a periodic schedule.
- These engines change their outputs frequently and outside our control; scores and citation results are a sample, not a guarantee of what any engine will say at any given moment.
- We do not control, and aren't responsible for, the content, accuracy, or availability of third-party AI engines or the sources they cite.
- Historical data may be revised if we detect measurement errors or if a third-party engine changes its behavior retroactively.
06Intellectual property
Citetail and its licensors own all rights to the Service, including the scoring methodology, software, design, and branding. These Terms don't grant you any ownership in the Service.
You retain ownership of the content on your own domain and any material you upload. By using the Service, you grant Citetail a license to process that content solely to provide the Service to you (e.g., analyzing your pages to generate a GEO score).
07Free tools
Tools like the llms.txt Generator, Sitemap.xml Generator, AI Prompt Generator, and Robots.txt Generator are provided free of charge and "as is," without the service-level commitments that apply to paid plans. We may modify, rate-limit, or discontinue free tools at any time.
08Suspension & termination
- You may cancel your account at any time from account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
- We may suspend or terminate your access for breach of these Terms, non-payment, or suspected fraudulent or abusive activity.
- Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends immediately. We may retain data as described in our Privacy Policy.
09Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't guarantee that any specific action recommended by Citetail will result in an AI citation, ranking improvement, or traffic increase.
10Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Citetail will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or lost data, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
11Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes are material, we'll notify you by email or with a notice on the site at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the updated Terms.
12Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Travis County, Texas, and you consent to that jurisdiction.
